Motor vehcile accidents: Man charged after damaging crash

On Behalf of | Nov 29, 2018 | Motor Vehicle Accidents |

It only takes a moment for an individual’s life to change. Moments of texting, fidgeting with the radio, looking away from the road and other distractions can result in serious motor-vehicle accidents. Unfortunately, innocent victims often suffer serious injury and/or death from another driver’s negligence. Sadly, both the responsible driver and another driver suffered serious injuries in a recent Florida crash.

The crash occurred early in the morning as one 71-year-old driver was pulling out of a private driveway. The driver pulled into traffic to make a right turn. Unfortunately, the driver did not yield to oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle.

Reportedly, the 20-year-old driver of the other vehicle attempted to swerve and miss the vehicle, but he was not successful. The impact resulted in the older driver’s vehicle overturning into a ditch. Both drivers were treated medically in separate hospitals. Their conditions are unknown, and the older driver has been issued charges for failing to yield to the right-of-way.

Apart from any traffic citations or criminal charges a driver may face for actions leading up to an accident, he or she can also be held liable in civil court by injured victims or families of deceased victims. For some victims and families, it offers closure as well as the possibility of obtaining some compensation to cover expenses related to the accident. Property damage and medical expenses can quickly become a financial burden for individuals, but a Florida personal injury attorney may be able to assist to limit the burden.
